Pilgrims, Tourists who visit Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy Temple, generally go the other places of interest in and around Tirupati. One of the must visit temples is Sri Govinda Raja Perumal Swamy Temple located in the nexus of Tirupati city. Built around the 11th Century on the divine intervention of Lord Mahavishnu by Shri Ramanujacharya, Govinda Raja swamy temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams of Vaishnavam. Praised by Alwars, Desikars & Vaishnavas Govinda raja swamy temple was previously home to Parthasarathy Swamy.

During the uprooting of All vaishava temples in chola kingdom by Kulottunga chola in 12th century, Shri ramanujacharya has fled Chidambaram with perumal idol from its main sanctum. Kulottunga chola being a Shaiva Follower wanted to dispose Lord perumal idol into the heart of Eastren Sea. After the reclamation of Chidambaram Govindaraja swamy temple again by shri vaishnavas, The govinda raja swamy Utsava Murthy idol was reinstalled in Chidambaram temple complex. In another historic account to prevent the discretion to Muslim invasions of temples in south india, Ramanujacharya was guided by maha Vishnu about upcoming disaster, shown a new idol at where the current Govinda Raja Swamy temple is constructed.

Specialties of Tirupati Govinda Raja Swamy Temple:

The temple is home to near 18 sub-temples or Upa aalayams belongs to alwars, Desikars, other devotees. 50 meter high raja gopuram with 7 kalasas & 30 feet high Temple doors & stone pillars reaching 25 feet in mandapams.

The temple was built in two compounds one compound has entrance the main Raja gopuram consisting of houses, temple storage cellars etc.

Sri Govinda raja swamy pusharini is one the main attraction to devotees with steep steps as deep as 40 feet and kept in perfect condition by TTD. The second compound is with well-built temple walls with another Gopuram of 25 meters tall and a special dwaja sthambam is installed after the small gopuram.

Museum in Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple is a must see place displaying the edifices of various vaishnava 108 Divya desams in wooden carving work. The temples hirerarchy and history is well catalogued in Sri Govinda Raja Swamy Temple Museum. Entrance cost is 20 rupees approx.

Govind Raja Swamy temple follows all the agama sastra rules of worship & pujas are done by TTD archakas. The arjitha sevas are relatively same as Tirumala Temple.

Supabata Seva is done @ 5:00 AM

Thomala Seva is done @ 6:30 AM

Sahara Nama Archana Seva @ 7:00 AM

Archana anantara Darsanam @ 8:00 AM

Ekantha Seva @ 9:00 PM

How to Book Tirupati Govinda Raja Swamy Temple Arjitha Sevas, Special Entry Darshan in online:

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams board has completely automated the issuing of all TTD temples in online @ ttdevasthanms.ap.gov.in website. Devotees can check the home page updates of TTD local temples darshan booking.

Visit ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in and login with your mobile number. Select TTD temples option and proceed to Select Sevas booking.

At present online issuing of tickets is not active but in coming days It will be seamless. Only Kumkumarchana, Veda Ashirvachanam, Unjal Seva tickets are issued in online. Remaining seva tickets are sold in temple counter on first come first servce basis.

Tickets are issued based on availability and in special occasions tickets are not issued like brahmotsavams etc.
